Donations

We at Home Start are always grateful for donations. Our management expenses remain at or below 15%, which is near the lower end of the range for similar charities. The majority of all donations are applied directly to program expenses. Given recent disasters such as Katrina and Rita, grant monies have been particularly difficult to obtain. While we always recommend discussing this with tax professionals, donations to Home Start are tax deductible. We gladly accept bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, gifts of life insurance and or retirement assets.

We also ask that if you are considering a donation and are employed by a corporation, to review your individual corporate policies and determine if your employer matches your donations.

We do accept on a limited basis, vehicles and furniture. We have very little storage. If you have a vehicle that is in good condition and it would be an acceptable vehicle for a resident or client, please call us. We also accept, from time to time, furniture that we use to assist clients moving to housing upon graduation.

Finally, if you are considering donating to Home Start, this would be an excellent time! While we are excited at the prospect of opening and operating our newly renovated facility, many donors have come forward and assisted with unexpected expenses resulting from renovating a fifty-five year old motel (think asbestos). This has put constraints on our operating budget.

Please call us at 916-782-6667 or E-mail us at RhondaHomeStart@surewest.net and we will be happy to discuss this with you and provide our federal tax identification number.
