About Home Start

Home Start is virtually the only transitional housing program in Placer County serving families exclusively. We accept families headed by single fathers, single mothers, couples with children and even grandparents raising children. Preference is given to Placer County residents.

Families fill out an application, agree to the program conditions, and live on-site for one year. They must attend all case manager mandated meetings, therapy sessions, work, save, live on a budget, attend GED classes if not a high school graduate, and remain drug and alcohol free. Smoking is not allowed on the premises.

Families remain under the case management of Home Start for an additional year after graduation.
